Even though they were playing at home, the Denver Nuggets lost Game 1 of the second round to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.
It wasn’t the best showing from the reigning champions but there are still plenty of people who have a lot of faith in the team, including Paul Pierce.
Pierce was on Monday’s “Undisputed” and said that he thinks the Nuggets will win this series.
He predicted that Nikola Jokic would play better in the future, Anthony Edwards wouldn’t consistently score more than 40 points, and the “experience and coaching” of Denver would show and they would be triumphant in the end.

In the first game of the series, Jokic posted an impressive stat line of 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists.
As strong as those numbers are, they are considered a bit lacking for Jokic, especially because he had 7 turnovers.
Ironically, the Timberwolves won by just seven points.
Those turnovers are especially concerning because Jokic is the centerpiece of Denver’s offense.
If he is losing the ball often, it is opening the door for the Timberwolves to win.
But Pierce thinks that Jokic will get his turnover problem under control and he also doesn’t think that Edwards can consistently score more than 40 points in every game.
In Game 1, he posted 43 points and 7 rebounds, a statement performance that put the Nuggets on notice.
Game 2 of this series, which is scheduled for Monday night, is going to be very interesting.
People will be paying close attention to see if the Nuggets are playing better and if the Timberwolves have any problems.
Was Game 1 an anomaly or a taste of what’s to come?
