Darvin Ham was the one fired from the Los Angeles Lakers but LeBron James is getting the most criticism.
There has been a lot of conversation about James’ greatness since Ham’s firing and people have questioned if going through so many coaches hurts his legacy.
Kendrick Perkins appeared on Monday’s “First Take” and made a harsh and shocking statement.
“I wish LeBron James would retire,” Perkins said, adding, “The more LeBron James continues to play the game of basketball, the more it’s going to hurt his legacy and the more it’s going to continue to hurt his GOAT argument.”
“I wish LeBron James would retire. Not because I don’t want to see more of LeBron James. … The more LeBron James continues to play the game of basketball, the more it’s going to hurt his legacy and the more it’s going to continue to hurt his GOAT argument.”

Perkins obviously believes that Ham’s firing hurts James.
To him, it shows that James is lacking the sort of leadership that can keep a team winning no matter who is coaching them.
At this point, James will have ten head coaches during his NBA career, and he still has a few years left before he retires.
Granted, he has played for a very long time under numerous teams, but going through so many coaches calls his greatness into question for Perkins and others.
That is why he is hoping that James walks away from the game.
He’d rather James hang up his jersey before he suffers more knocks against his status as one of the greatest players of all time.
Firing a head coach doesn’t always solve problems within a team and there is no doubt the Lakers will attempt to make even more changes this summer.
For example, there are many rumors about the front office thinking of adding a third star alongside James and Anthony Davis.
With the success he has found and the things he has achieved, any misstep or questionable choice can impact James’ legacy.
The Lakers’ firing of Ham may have been justified but Perkins believes it’s harming their biggest star.
