These days, there are a lot more friendships in the NBA, with opposing players being more friends than enemies like back in the day, with epic rivalries between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird and Michael Jordan and Isaiah Thomas.

Although there are more friends in the league than ever before, and intense and bitter rivalries are becoming a thing of the past, some players, like Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics, still have an old-school edge to them.

After getting the best of the Miami Heat in five games in the first round, the top-seeded Boston Celtics have advanced to the second round where they’ll face the Cleveland Cavaliers as heavy favorites to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals once again.

In this series, Brown will face his close friend Donovan Mitchell with a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals on the line, and the Celtics star isn’t going to give Mitchell a break in this series due to the relationship, as he claims there are “no friends in the playoffs,” which screams old school via Celtics on NBA Sports Boston.

“Ain’t no friends in the playoffs,” Brown said. “Just got to get ready to play. That’s what I got to say.”

As of right now, no one expects the Cavaliers to give the Celtics much trouble during this second-round series, with Boston being the overwhelming favorite, and for good reason.

It’ll be interesting to see if Cleveland can make a series out of this in the second round, with seemingly everyone picking the Celtics to advance.
