People have loved Anthony Edwards’ potential for the last couple of years, but it is fair to say right now that he has arrived.

He’s averaging 33.4 points a game so far in this year’s NBA playoffs, and he has notched back-to-back 40-point games, making him only the second player 22 years of age or under to do so.

Many have been comparing Edwards to Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan, and that includes Colin Cowherd, who also said he has a little Dominique Wilkins in him, per The Volume.

Wilkins is an interesting comparison for Edwards, as he was 6-foot-9 while Edwards is merely 6-foot-4.

Back in the 1980s and early 1990s, Wilkins was a true force in the NBA, and he abused many rims across the nation on his way to becoming one of the greatest dunkers the game had ever seen.

In his 12-season career, he averaged 24.8 points a game while winning the scoring title during the 1985-86 campaign, and he also won two Slam Dunk contests.

Jordan, of course, won six NBA championships and 10 scoring titles while achieving a lifetime scoring average of 30.1 points a game, which is the highest ever in league history.

Jason Timpf piggybacked on Cowherd’s comment by saying that Edwards also has some Dwyane Wade in him while possessing the body of a middle linebacker.

All these abilities allowed him to score 43 points on 17-of-29 shooting while leading his Minnesota Timberwolves to a 106-99 win in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals versus the Denver Nuggets.

As a result, the Timberwolves are seemingly in a position to have a real shot at dethroning the defending world champs.
