The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off yet another disappointing end to an NBA season, with the team falling to the Denver Nuggets for a second straight year in the NBA playoffs, resulting in another opportunity lost for LeBron James to win another title.

With James’ season officially over, the superstar forward has a tough decision to make this summer in terms of whether he wants to remain with the Lakers moving forward because it looks like he might not be able to win another title in Purple and Gold.

James has a player option for the 2024-25 NBA season, and all signs point to him opting out of that contract to sign one last long-term deal with Los Angeles or another team that would give him a better chance to win a fifth NBA title.

Although a near-40-year-old James is holding out hope he can win another title before he calls it a career, Mike Greenberg thinks his window closed when Kevin Durant signed with the Golden State Warriors, via ESPN Radio.

The odds are definitely not in James’ favor to lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy one more time, with the Lakers only getting older and the rest of the league seemingly getting younger and more talented, with teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves on the rise.

The Lakers, Warriors, and Phoenix Suns seem to be headed in the wrong direction while the younger teams are moving up and the Nuggets seem as good as they’ve ever been.

It’ll be interesting to see what James decides to do and whether he has one last championship run left before he calls it a career.
