The Cleveland Browns had one of the best — if not the best — defenses in the National Football League last season.
So, it only makes sense that they want to keep the band together and double down on this core of players for years to come.
Nonetheless, star CB Greg Newsome II has been at the forefront of multiple trade rumors for quite a while now.
Newsome is still a part of the team, and it didn’t seem like the Browns were actively trying to move him, as they didn’t trade him during the NFL Draft.
So, now that the chances of trading him seem slimmer at the time, the talented DB talked to Scott Petrak of Browns Zone to discuss his future (via ProFootballTalk):
“Extension-wise, we haven’t really talked about that,” Newsome said. “Honestly, I’m just focused on trying to get us as high as we can this year and whatever happens after that happens. But like I said before, I would love to be a Cleveland Brown for life.”

While he admitted that he wants to be a part of the team for years to come and the remainder of his career, he stated that they haven’t actually talked about a contract extension.
The Browns picked up his fifth-year option for the 2025 season.
That will give him a guaranteed salary of $13.3 million, and it also shows that the Browns may see him as a pivotal part of their future.
He’s coming off a solid campaign in 2023, logging 49 tackles, two interceptions, and 14 passes defensed.
And while it’s not easy to stand out from the rest of the pack on such a talented team, he’s going to be in a position to keep making plays and convince the front office to give him the contract extension he’s looking for.
