On Monday afternoon, Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs was awarded this season’s Rookie of the Year, a huge honor for the young French star.

Now that he’s accomplished that major feat, what’s next for him?

Perhaps winning MVP is the next goal on his list?

Speaking on Tuesday’s “First Take,” Shannon Sharpe predicted that Wembanyama will claim that converted prize very soon.

In fact, he suggested that the Spurs star would be named league MVP within his first four years in the NBA.

There are others who think that Wembanyama is well on his way to being MVP.

This first season was a sensational one for the rookie.

He averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks per game, which paved the path for him to be the sixth unanimous Rookie of the Year in the last 40 years.

He had a breakout season and caught the attention of even the most critical detractors.

The most exciting thing about Wembanyama’s first season is that it’ll likely be his worst one.

He has already shown tremendous signs of growth and there is a very good chance that he will be even better next year and in the seasons after that.

If he is more talented in the near future, why wouldn’t he win MVP?

Stephen A. Smith pushed back against Sharpe’s prediction simply because the Spurs are in bad shape right now.

For Wembanyama to claim MVP, the rest of the team needs to be doing better, and they are far from great right now.

That is why this offseason will be so vital for the team.

If San Antonio’s front office can make some major changes and bring in more talent around Wembanyama, he will get an even bigger chance to shine in his second season.
