In the first round of the NBA playoffs, the Dallas Mavericks were matched up with the Los Angeles Clippers in what many thought would be an all-out battle that could go the full seven games to decide a winner.
However, things changed drastically with superstar forward Kawhi Leonard’s playing status altering the series, giving the Mavericks the edge, which Luka Doncic and company took full advantage of by coming out on top in six games.
Now, they’ll face a tough and talented young team led by NBA MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Gilgeous-Alexander has led the upstart Oklahoma City Thunder to the top seed in the Western Conference and quickly dispatched the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round.
Although the Thunder are a team on the rise, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green thinks the Mavericks will win this second-round playoff series, via The Volume.
“I got Dallas winning this series in five, six at best,” Green said. “And the reason I have Dallas winning that way is because I just don’t think OKC is big enough for Dallas. … When you look at P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford and Luka, they also have girth. OKC has length, but they’re mostly skinny guys. I think Dallas’ physicality in this series will actually make the difference.”

Green may be on to something here, as the Thunder might struggle to defend a bigger team that can score like the Mavericks in a seven-game series.
There’s no doubt that the Thunder are a talented team with a bright future, but it may be a little too early to dub them title contenders in the West.
