The Boston Celtics cruised past the Cleveland Cavaliers in the opening game of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Tuesday night, easily scoring a 120-95 win.

The Cavaliers knew that the Celtics wouldn’t be easy and that was proven again and again throughout the game.

Following the loss, Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell spoke about why the Celtics won.

He said that momentum swung in Boston’s favor after multiple offensive rebounds and nothing was the same after that.

“We’ll be better next game,” Mitchell promised, according to a video shared by Bally Sports Cleveland.

Mitchell said that the Celtics are the type of team that can’t be given any extra opportunities.

They are a high-volume team that will take advantage of every single chance to score.

Throughout Tuesday’s game, the Celtics were raining down points even without the help of Kristaps Porzingis and with Jayson Tatum having an off night.

Will this game set the tone for the rest of the series or will the Cavaliers be able to bounce back, as Mitchell promised?

The last series between the Celtics and the Miami Heat featured multiple dominant performances from Boston and the Heat only scored one victory.

The Cavaliers are hoping they don’t follow a similar pattern.

Mitchell is a supremely smart basketball player and the Cavaliers have several strong stars who can score regularly.

But it’ll take all of their smarts and efforts to make this series competitive.

During Tuesday’s game, Mitchell scored a game-high 33 points, which was a very positive sign.

Even with that output, the Celtics didn’t break a sweat as they wrapped up the game.

Mitchell said that he and his team saw where things went wrong and why they lost.

Will they be able to correct themselves in Game 2?
