The Boston Celtics continued to stomp through the Eastern Conference playoffs with a 120-95 victory in Game 1 of their second-round matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers last night, as the team continues to navigate life without its starting center, Kristaps Porzingis.

Porzingis has been out with a calf strain suffered in Game 4 of the series against the Miami Heat, and expectations were that Porzingis wouldn’t be seen again until potentially the Conference Finals, though a recent video surfaced that showed he may be slightly ahead of schedule.

NBC Sports Boston showed a video of KP on the court at practice today for some very light shooting work, which isn’t much, but it is encouraging to see the big man at least making some progress.

The video shows Porzingis shooting very lightly off one leg to avoid any stress on his calf before moving into more light shooting off two feet.

Given Boston’s dominance this season, it appears they are in no rush to get Porzingis back until he is ready, as Game 1 showed that the Cavaliers might not present a problem to them unless Cleveland can get their center back from injury as well, as Jarrett Allen has been out since the middle of the first round with a rib injury.

Al Horford and Luke Kornet are holding things down in the meantime, but the Celtics would surely love to have Porzingis back for a potential Eastern Conference Finals matchup with the New York Knicks or Indiana Pacers.

Regardless, it’s great to see Porzingis working towards a return.
