Understanding the criteria used by NBA MVP voters is getting tougher by the year.
Sometimes, it seems like they vote for the best player on the best team.
And other times, they may vote for the player with the best stats.
This time, they settled for Nikola Jokic as the MVP as soon as Joel Embiid fell with an injury.
That’s why Skip Bayless was livid at the fact that the Serbian big man won MVP over Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and he took to Twitter to express his discontent.
“I’ll say it again: SGA deserved MVP,” Bayless said.
I’LL SAY IT AGAIN: SGA DESERVED MVP.

Of course, there’s absolutely no denying that Jokic is the best player in today’s game, and he was one of many players who deserved to win this award.
Then again, it’s almost impossible to understand why Shai, who has MVP-caliber numbers and led the youngest No. 1 seed in NBA history, didn’t get more MVP votes.
Some might argue that Jokic deserved MVP over Joel Embiid last season, so voters were trying to compensate now, and that could be a valid point.
At the end of the day, it’s almost impossible to narrow things down to just one player, as the league has never featured more talented hoopers than today.
There will always be a snub, and someone will always feel like another player should’ve won.
Still, it would be nice to have some clarity regarding the criterion used to vote.
