Not so long ago, NBA pundits were mocking the New York Knicks for the deal they gave Jalen Brunson.

The Dallas Mavericks low-balled him and could’ve kept him for significantly less, and perhaps he would’ve never blossomed into the player he is nowadays.

Those who made fun of the Knicks and called out Leon Rose for giving that much money to Brunson have now gone silent.

Jalen Brunson is undeniably one of the best players in the league, and he’s brought the Knicks back into the spotlight.

He’s become a fan favorite, and Madison Square Garden erupted in MVP chants when he went to the line in the second half.

Following the game, Brunson talked about how humbled he was by the love he’s gotten since he arrived in the Big Apple, thanking the fans for all the love and appreciation (via NBA).

“This place has been nothing but special for me… I appreciate everything they do,” Brunson said.

Brunson left the floor with four minutes left in the first quarter and was questionable to return with a foot injury, and he wasn’t even on the bench in the second quarter.

Then, he returned to the court and scored 24 second-half points to lead his team to a big comeback, finishing the night with 29 to make sure his team left town with a 2-0 lead in the series.

The Knicks are two wins away from their first trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in over two decades, and that wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for their gritty and tough point guard.
