Few have been more successful in the NBA in any phase of their career, whether it be on the court, on the sideline, or behind the scenes as an executive than Pat Riley, who is currently the team president of the Miami Heat.
Riley has been successful every step of the way, from his time as a player and head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers to running the show at the helm of the Heat franchise, where he helped win three NBA titles during his time in Miami.
The Heat president is the perfect example of success in the NBA and about as highly respected as anyone in the league, as he knows what he’s doing and doesn’t take any grief from anyone, whether it’s players, coaches, or the media.
With Riley being incredibly successful throughout the course of his career in the league, he definitely has his own way of doing things that have proven to work more often than not and can rub some of his players the wrong way at times, as he is a disciplinarian.
Former Heat guard Mario Chalmers reflected on that discipline from Riley, as he admitted that the Miami executive kept tabs on him when he’d go out on the town, via Heat Nation.
“I wasn’t in trouble, he was just letting me know like, you can’t do nothing in this city without me knowing,” Chalmers said.

Chalmers is one of many who have felt Riley’s wrath and watchful eye while in Miami, as superstar Jimmy Butler might be going through the same treatment right now.
Butler made some ill-advised comments recently about what would’ve happened had he been healthy against the Boston Celtics, which didn’t sit well with Riley, who advised his superstar to keep quiet if he isn’t playing, which seems like sage advice.
