During his storied playing career in the NBA, Michael Jordan was arguably the most popular and recognizable athlete in the world, as he was seemingly in every commercial and the talk of the league from the start of his career in 1984 until he finally retired for a third time in 2002.
Since Jordan’s farewell tour with the Washington Wizards, he’s been busy doing a number of things off the court, from becoming a billionaire with his shoe empire to owning the Charlotte Hornets and now putting his money to good use for a good cause.
Although the GOAT debate is ongoing, with LeBron James still playing in the league with the Los Angeles Lakers, Jordan is doing what he can to better his community in his home state of North Carolina.
Over the years, Jordan has been criticized for not being more charitable and for not getting involved in his community or with issues within the country, but now he seems to be making an effort to change that.
Apparently, Jordan has just opened a third clinic in North Carolina to serve uninsured and underinsured residents, with the six-time NBA champion donating $10 million, via NBACentral.

I’ll be the first to admit I did not know that this guy did anything for the community and I thought that all the gambling allegations were all that he was good for so I’d like to apologize on behalf of myself for Michael Jordan. This guy really is to go, but he should do more.

Awesome to see this kind of community outreach. Would be great to see some other past and present legends follow his lead.

With Jordan having nothing but time and money in his post-playing days, the NBA legend will likely continue to do things like this in order to better his community and help people in need in North Carolina.
It’ll be interesting to see what else Jordan does in the near future now that he has sold his majority stake in the Hornets.
