The Atlanta Falcons have had a surprising offseason, with one of their most eye-opening moves being hiring Raheem Morris as the next head coach when many assumed Bill Belichick would be next up.

One of Morris’ biggest tasks will be unlocking one of the team’s biggest weapons, a guy many fans have been begging to see more of in recent years.

After years of mediocre quarterback play hindering his production, tight end Kyle Pitts is the guy Morris is hoping to get the “best version” of in 2024 now that Kirk Cousins and Michael Penix Jr. are quarterbacking this team and Desmond Ridder and Marcus Mariota are long gone.

Atlanta picked up Pitts’ fifth-year option on his rookie deal, so he has at least two more years with the Falcons, and Morris is thrilled about it.

“Getting a healthy Kyle Pitts gives you a really dynamic player that we believe in a lot. Hence, the picking up of his option (and) letting him be a part of our immediate and hopefully our long-term future,” said Morris.

Falcons fans have watched their quarterbacks airmail Pitts throughout his three years with the team so far, as the talent has never been a question with him.

Pitts played all 17 games last year and caught 53 of his 90 targets for 667 yards and three touchdowns.

He made the Pro Bowl as a rookie with Matt Ryan at quarterback and surpassed 1,000 yards receiving, which is unheard of for a first-year tight end.

Everyone is hoping he can return to that level of production with Cousins in town.
