The Boston Celtics didn’t come to play in Game 2.

Once again, they struggled in the second game of a series against a lesser opponent despite being favored, this time by double digits.

Now, history isn’t on their side in terms of winning an NBA championship.

As shown by ESPN Bet on Twitter, only the 99-00 Los Angeles Lakers and 91-92 Chicago Bulls went on to become champions after losing a home playoff game by 23+ points.

Well, those were two legendary teams, two of the greatest of all time, so it’s not like they will have it easy to replicate that kind of story.

But the Boston Celtics have the most talent in the NBA right now, and they also have won the most games by 25+ points in a single season (19) this year.

They’re a fairly superior team than the Cleveland Cavaliers, so, just like what happened against the Miami Heat in the first round, they shouldn’t find that much trouble bouncing back and getting past them in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Even so, if that’s the case, they would still have plenty of basketball left before lifting that No. 18 banner.

The New York Knicks are one of the best defensive teams in the game, and they’re firmly expected to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Then, even if they beat them, they would have to go against either the Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, or Dallas Mavericks, and with their history of postseason struggles, they’re facing an uphill battle.
