The Charlotte Hornets just got one of the most sought-after assistant coaches in the game.

After their postseason run, Charles Lee will officially leave Joe Mazzulla’s side and the Boston Celtics to become the Hornets’ head coach.

He already had ties to the front office from his days with the Atlanta Hawks, and given his quick and notorious rise as an assistant coach, it wasn’t shocking to see the Hornets going with him for the next chapter of their franchise.

With that in mind, Celtics star Jrue Holiday took some time to wish him well.

Holiday stated to the media that he was sad to see Lee go (via Chris Forsberg).

However, he also claimed that he was happy for him and that this opportunity was well deserved.

Of course, he also stated that they will beat him every time they face off.

“I was really happy. Sad to see him go but extremely happy. He deserves it and been with him for a minute now. To see him as a head coach and to beat him every time we play him, it’s going to be great, ” Holiday said.

Notably, that shouldn’t be that hard to do.

The Hornets are currently one of the worst teams in the league.

They need to make up their minds about free-agent-to-be Miles Bridges, and LaMelo Ball can’t seem to shake his injury woes.

Brandon Miller looks like a star in the making, but they don’t have that much talent by his side right now.

Hopefully, Lee will be someone Hornets players will be able to relate to, as they need to focus on basketball first and foremost.

This team has lacked direction for quite a while, especially with the way they handle themselves off the court.
