The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t wait long to part ways with Darvin Ham.
While some think he’s just the fall guy and that their roster was never good enough to compete in the first place, he didn’t look in charge of the team, and that’s simply unacceptable at this level.
It’s not easy to coach a player like LeBron James, who’s been around for two decades, is a billionaire, used to be the best player in the world, and has perhaps the highest basketball IQ around the league.
That’s why the team needs to be extremely thorough in their pursuit of a new boss.
With that in mind, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN revealed that JJ Redick and James Borrego would be two names to monitor in their coaching search (via Evan Sidery).
JJ Redick and James Borrego are two of the top candidates to monitor for the Lakers’ head coaching vacancy, per @wojespn.

Borrego has plenty of experience as an assistant coach, even being a part of Gregg Popovich’s coaching staff.
He’s currently Willie Green’s associate head coach with the New Orleans Pelicans.
As for Redick, he was reportedly on the Toronto Raptors’ shortlist last offseason, and he has a close relationship with LeBron, as they just started a podcast together.
The former sharpshooter has been working as an analyst for ESPN and is a well-known and respected NBA veteran, although he has no coaching experience.
