Udonis Haslem is a Miami Heat legend, perhaps the second-biggest one behind Dwyane Wade.

However, younger NBA fans didn’t get to see him on the court much.

His prime was short-lived and his numbers were never impressive, but he was a physical force and the ultimate glue guy when he was on the court.

That’s why even though he’s not exactly popular among other team’s fan bases, former players still give him his flowers.

Notably, that includes Dwight Howard.

In his recent appearance on The OGs podcast, the legendary big man admitted that Haslem gave him some of his most physical battles.

Howard claimed that Halsem would never back down from a challenge, and even though it always seemed like they were about to fight, that’s just the physical nature of the game and they used to compete back then.

Haslem was never the most athletic or talented guy, but he did his job, and he became an institution of Heat Culture for the way he embraced his mentorship role for younger players.

It wouldn’t be shocking to see him tied to the organization for the next couple of decades.

He was more of an enforcer than a defensive force, but he was fairly intimidating when he was in his prime.

So, even though perhaps the team would’ve been better off by having him as an assistant coach and not taking a roster spot from someone who would actually play, every organization needs a Udonis Haslem out there.
