Kendrick Perkins Calls Out Rudy Gobert After Game 4 Loss

The Minnesota Timberwolves couldn’t keep the momentum going, and they could pay the price for that now.

They shocked the world by winning back-to-back road games in Denver, particularly in Game 2.

The fact that they were able to contain the Denver offense without having their best defensive player was remarkable, so people expected them to be even more defensively dominant once Rudy Gobert found his way back to the floor.

Nonetheless, that hasn’t been the case in the past couple of games, and the reigning Defensive Player of the Year has been nowhere to be found.

That’s why former NBA player Kendrick Perkins didn’t mince his words against him.

Talking on ESPN’s “Get Up,” Perkins pretty much told the French big man to man up and stop being pushed around by Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon.

“Isn’t Rudy Gobert the DPOY? Why is it all the time he’s the DPOY in the regular season but he’s a defensive liability come playoff time?”

Perkins questioned why Gobert always disappears and becomes a defensive liability come playoff time, and while that might sound harsh, that’s actually factual.

Gobert is one of the best rim protectors this game has ever seen, and he made major strides as a perimeter defender this season as well.

Nonetheless, he’s been moved around and bullied in the paint for two games straight, and he’s not being an offensive factor either.

This is why some NBA fans and even some players believe he’s not tough and take offense at the fact that he’s won four Defensive Player of the Year awards.

At the end of the day, the regular season is great and all, but this is where it counts.
