Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia said that his team will stay intact in the new season but that hasn’t stopped some people from questioning if changes are coming.

The Suns are very limited in what they can do because of some monster contracts on their books but they could commit to some trades.

What would happen if they decided to part ways with Kevin Durant?

Speaking on ESPN, via Awful Announcing, Stephen A. Smith made a shocking claim that should get some people talking.

He said that he feels the Los Angeles Lakers would be the “perfect place” for Durant if the Suns choose to trade him.

The Suns had plenty of problems in 2023–24, which has led to a lot of speculation about what’s next for the team.

While alterations might be best for them, they don’t have a lot of options because they are committed to numerous stars with their major contracts.

Durant is one of them and it seems very likely that he will remain in Phoenix next season.

But what happens if the new year is just as bad as this one was?

The questions about the Suns will only grow then and there is a possibility that Durant might demand a trade if things don’t turn around.

If that happens, what are the chances of him going to the Lakers to play with his friend LeBron James?

Smith thinks that Durant would work with that team solely because of his relationship with James.

But the chances of that happening, at least any time soon, are unlikely.

In all likelihood, the Suns will be unchanged in the new season unless Durant himself asks to leave.

And if that happens, the Lakers won’t be the only ones vying to sign him.
