Heading into the NBA playoffs, the New York Knicks were without Julius Randle, who has been ruled out of the season, and OG Anunoby, who eventually returned but is now back on the mend.
Obviously, Jalen Brunson’s incredible postseason performance thus far has been enough to overshadow Randle’s absence, but Anunoby not being on the basketball floor has had a noticeable impact, especially in Game 4 against the Indiana Pacers in the second round.
Although every team in the playoffs is dealing with injuries at this point, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau has gotten a lot of heat lately for running his players into the ground, which former NBA player Chandler Parsons recently talked about via NBA Central.
“This is why that players’ poll came out with guys that don’t want to play for [Tom Thibodeau] because it doesn’t last, you can’t sustain it in such a long season,” Parsons said.

If this statement was true that Thibodeau is playing his star players too much and wearing them out, it is kind of amazing that they are two wins away from reaching the Eastern Conference Finals.
The same can’t be said for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who won’t have Donovan Mitchell in Game 4 against the Boston Celtics due to a calf strain, and the Milwaukee Bucks, who didn’t have Giannis Antetokounmpo for the entire first-round series against the Pacers.
Injuries happen and often happen after a long NBA regular season, so to blame Thibodeau for this seems a bit ridiculous, especially with Anunoby being pretty injury-prone during his career thus far.
