The 2023-2024 season was seen as a disappointing one for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Fans and analysts believed this team could make a deep run in the playoffs, especially after seeing how well LeBron James and Anthony Davis played down the stretch.

Despite some optimism, the Lakers fell in five games to the Denver Nuggets in the opening round of the playoffs.

After this collapse, the front office decided to part ways with Darvin Ham and elected to search for a new head coach.

Several names, including J.J. Redick and Magic Johnson, have emerged as potential new head coaches for this team.

Johnson was quick to say that he has no interest in coaching again, also giving an answer on who he thinks will be the new head coach, as he told TMZ Sports.

“It’s up to the Lakers and Jeanie [Buss] and Rob Pelinka. I hope they get a good one, though,” Johnson said.

In these comments, Johnson indicated that he is unaware of who the Lakers’ next head coach will be, but he wishes them well.

Johnson is a beloved figure within the Lakers organization, and it is clear that fans would like him to be the team’s new coach.

Now that he has adamantly declared that he doesn’t want the job, it will be interesting to see what direction the team will take.

They could go with a more traditional coach with a lot of experience, or they could go the Redick route, which would seemingly appease James.
