The Phoenix Suns need to do whatever it takes to get themselves out of the mess they got into.
New owner Mat Ishbia’s hands-on approach may have shot them in the foot and set them back years.
Trading for Kevin Durant was a move every single GM in the league would’ve made, but adding Bradley Beal to that mix looked like a big mistake from day one.
Now, given how they fared in the offseason, it may have been even worse than expected.
With that in mind, the team is reportedly going to be very aggressive in trade talks leading to the NBA Draft, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania (Via Evan Sidery).
The Suns are expected to be “very, very aggressive” on the trade market leading up to draft night, per @ShamsCharania on @PatMcAfeeShow.
Phoenix has two first-round picks that become trade-eligible on June 26: No. 22 overall + 2031 1st.

In his latest appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Charania reported that Nassir Little will be a name to keep an eye on, as he’s about to make $6.7 million next season, and they could pair him with the No. 22 pick and a 2031 first-round pick, which will become trade-eligible on June 26.
Nonetheless, the Suns can’t take back more salary than they send out in a trade, and that seriously hampers their ability to get some good value in return.
The Suns are in a tough spot, salary cap-wise, and it’s not going to be easy to revert this situation.
Finding a trade suitor for Beal will be almost impossible, given his history of injuries, his no-trade clause, and his steep salary.
That makes Kevin Durant the only valuable movable asset they have right now, and trading him would be admitting failure, which is something a new owner isn’t likely to do less than two years in his new position.
