The race for this season’s MVP was complicated and controversial but in the end, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets won his third trophy in four years.

Some people argue that he shouldn’t have been given the prize but the stats say otherwise.

According to StatMamba, Jokic is leading his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks in this current series.

He has 70 more points than the next closest player, 27 more rebounds than the next closest player, and 20 more assists than the next closest player.

For 2023–24, Jokic averaged 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 9 assists per game, scoring 58.3% from the field and leading his team to the second seed in the Western Conference.

He was once again dominant and skilled in just about every way but some people felt he shouldn’t have won this year’s Most Valuable Player.

That’s partly because they thought that Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers was entitled to MVP, but NBA rules prohibited him from winning.

Meanwhile, others thought that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder or Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks should have been MVP instead.

Despite the pushback from some people, Jokic is clearly one of the greatest players alive and had another truly outstanding season.

While it is true that several other players have also had award-worthy seasons, Jokic was the one who rose above the rest.

Now he’s trying to get his team back to the NBA Finals.

If Jokic can win MVP and another championship, he will be one of the few NBA stars to claim both accomplishments in one year.

The debate about Jokic’s third MVP win will continue but these numbers show that he’s a player unlike any other.
