With the NBA offseason officially underway for the Cleveland Cavaliers after the team was knocked out of the NBA playoffs by the Boston Celtics earlier this week, speculation has started to run rampant about what the future holds for superstar guard Donovan Mitchell.
Ever since Mitchell was traded to the Cavaliers from the Utah Jazz, rumors have swirled that he will not be in Cleveland for long, as he always wanted to play for the New York Knicks.
However, with Jalen Brunson proving to be a legitimate superstar in New York, Mitchell is no longer a player the team would target in a trade, as it doesn’t make much sense to put these two stars together.
That said, there have been plenty of other options that have been floated out there as potential destinations for Mitchell, with the Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, Houston Rockets, and Miami Heat being the most often mentioned.
Now, as shared by Evan Sidery of Forbes, another potential trade suitor has emerged, with the New Orleans Pelicans potentially showing interest in Mitchell’s services.

After getting crushed by the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs, the Pelicans made it clear they’ll be shaking things up this summer, starting with potentially trading Brandon Ingram.
Ingram had an opportunity to prove his worth to the team with Zion Williamson dealing with an injury during the playoffs, but he failed to step up, which has sparked trade rumors.
