The Los Angeles Chargers had a brutal 2023 season, but have since wiped the slate clean and overhauled the roster this offseason and hired Jim Harbaugh as head coach fresh off winning a National Championship at Michigan.
Joe Hortiz is the new general manager in LA as well, and he has high hopes for one of the team’s wide receivers who will have a big opportunity to take the next step after the team traded Keenan Allen to the Chicago Bears and lost Mike Williams in free agency to the New York Jets this offseason.
Hortiz joined the “Up & Adams” show recently, per Around The NFL, and spoke highly of second-year WR Quentin Johnston, saying, “Everyone here has a high opinion of him. I believe he’s really going to launch. I really do. His skill set is great. We’re gonna work with him, make him better and better.”

Johnston drew the ire of many Chargers fans last season after a lackluster rookie season that saw him put up 38 catches for 421 yards and two touchdowns.
He looked overmatched at times and dropped some crucial passes while failing to carve out a consistent role for himself alongside Allen and Williams.
He will now be the de facto No. 1 option in Harbaugh’s offense and will have every opportunity to feast with Justin Herbert feeding him.
The Chargers also drafted Georgia wideout Ladd McConkey in the second round, so the Chargers are heading into the season with an unproven, high-upside wide receiver room.
Johnston needs to break out this year for this offense to live up to expectations.
