The Oklahoma City Thunder may have finished as the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, but they find themselves on the brink of elimination after losing Game 5 at home to the Dallas Mavericks.
The Thunder lost Game 5, 104-92, and now must head on the road to try and keep their playoff season alive.
Oklahoma City has done well to keep pace with Dallas offensively, but defensively they’ve struggled to find answers for Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in crunch time.
It would be easy to attribute the Thunder’s shortcomings to age and inexperience, but the group has been resilient and should respond in Game 6.
Ahead of the elimination game, Oklahoma City shared a hype video via the team’s official Twitter account.

The video’s a little over a minute long and features Thunder highlights from Game 5 with a narrator going over what’s made the group so special to watch over the course of the 2023-24 NBA season.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been as good as advertised in the postseason, while Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren have been strong No. 2 and No. 3 options, respectively.
However, the Mavericks defense has found ways to slow the trio down which means role players like Josh Giddey, Lu Dort, and Jaylin Williams will need to do more on both ends of the floor to keep the Thunder in the postseason.
It won’t be easy for Oklahoma City to march into Dallas and force a Game 7, but it should be fun to watch them try and bring it back to their home floor.
