The New York Knicks looked poised to return to the Eastern Conference Finals.
However, despite going against a seemingly inferior opponent, the Indiana Pacers made sure to run them off the court over and over, and injuries were just too much to overcome.
Tom Thibodeau rarely uses his bench, especially in the playoffs, but he didn’t have that many options this time around, as he was missing multiple key guys in OG Anunoby, Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, and Bojan Bogdanovic.
Now, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic, Leon Rose and the Knicks will make sure this doesn’t happen again by adding another star player to the mix.
The Knicks’ season is over. Now, eyes turn toward the summer.

Katz reports that the Knicks won’t jeopardize or alter the chemistry they put together this season, so we could assume that Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo aren’t going anywhere.
Nonetheless, with their current finances, all the draft capital they have, and the team they’ve put together, the timing is perfect for a new star to arrive in the Big Apple.
The Knicks were absolutely worn out and exhausted at the end of the season, and even if they had beaten the Pacers, it’s hard to envision them getting past a fully rested Boston Celtics team.
However, they now have time to regroup, and they will be able to look back to this season and assess their needs to make sure to get over the hump next season.
They already have a legitimate star and clear-cut No. 1 in Jalen Brunson, and that’s often the hardest piece to find.
