The New York Knicks couldn’t finish the job vs. the Indiana Pacers.
They missed a couple of chances to close them out, failing to punch their ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals.
However, this was still a successful campaign for the team, all things considered.
That’s why, despite the shortcomings, there’s no doubt about their desire to keep Tom Thibodeau on board for at least another season.
So, with him set to enter the final year of his contract, the former Chicago Bulls head coach stated that his agent would take care of talks about a contract extension, adding that this was where he wanted to be going forward (Via Knicks Videos).
Tom Thibodeau was asked about a possible extension heading into the final year of his contract:

Thibodeau got some criticism for wearing his players down by playing them heavy minutes, which has been the knock on him throughout the course of his career.
This time, however, he might get a pass, as he had plenty of injuries and still resorted to some players from his second unit.
Then again, there will always be concerns about the long-term outlook of the way he uses his players.
Guys like Joakim Noah, Derrick Rose, Luol Deng, and, to some degree, Jimmy Butler have struggled with injuries after playing for Thibodeau.
Then, his team tends to underperform because of injuries or exhaustion, and that ends up costing him his job.
Hopefully, that won’t be the case again next season, and the players will be able to stay healthy, as they’re not that far off from being a championship contender.
