The Minnesota Timberwolves knew they were getting someone special when they got Anthony Edwards.

Now, the rest of the league knows it as well.

Edwards isn’t only a superstar in the making; he’s also a leader.

More than that, he’s proven to be mature enough to take a step back or do other things when his shot isn’t falling.

That’s why Bill Simmons believes he’s so special.

Talking on his podcast after the Timberwolves’ Game 7 win over the Denver Nuggets, Simmons raved about Edwards’ ability to make an impact even when his shot wasn’t falling (via The Ringer).

Even though he was struggling mightily from the field, Simmons pointed out the fact that Edwards never looked rattled nor lost his confidence; he knew he could still make a positive impact in a different way.

Edwards played top-notch defense in the second half, and he kept getting his teammates involved with his passing, so even if the final stat line doesn’t reflect it, he was a huge reason why they were able to win this game.

Simmons points out that it’s not usual to see young players be this unfazed when things don’t go their way on a big stage.

Edwards is a vocal guy, and while he has said that the Timberwolves are Karl-Anthony Towns’ team, this team clearly marches to the beat of his drum.

Making the right play and staying confident and true to your game are two of the things that often set stars apart from regular players.
