The Memphis Grizzlies seemed to have a lot of things going their way.
They selected Ja Morant with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, a selection that would change the organization’s direction over the next few years.
Morant put on a clinic for the first four years of his career, not only putting on electric performances for crowds but also helping the Grizzlies stay relevant.
The Grizzlies made it to the playoffs in three of Morant’s first four seasons, an indication of what his presence meant to this team.
While it looked like the Grizzlies were going to be a perennial playoff team under his leadership, things quicky changed.
Morant had many off-court issues that surfaced, causing the league to suspend him on two separate occasions.
The team wasn’t the same without him, and while he did play a few games after his suspension, he suffered an injury that ended his already-shortened season.
This was disheartening to Morant and his teammates, but a recent video shared by NBA Central might cheer them up.

If Morant is fully healthy heading into the 2024-2025 season, the Grizzlies will be that much better as a result.
It is clear that Morant’s presence is paramount for this team’s success, and if he is not on the court, they often fall short of their goals and expectations.
