This isn’t the best year to have the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft.

It might not even be the best year to have a top-five pick.

However, despite this being one of the weakest classes we’ve seen in years, there’s always a chance to find some solid value later on.

That might be the case with the Sacramento Kings.

After a loss in the Play-In Tournament to the New Orleans Pelicans, Mike Brown’s team didn’t make the playoffs, but they have a strong core of stars that should keep them in contention for years to come.

They could still add more firepower and role players who suit their current core of players, and they might have a chance to do so with the No. 13 pick in the upcoming draft.

With that in mind, it seems like they’re already doing their due diligence on some of the top names available in this class, according to a report by Sean Cunningham of FOX 40.

Per league source, the Sacramento Kings met with 10 projected lottery picks during last week’s NBA Combine in Chicago.

Interviews included Donovan Clingan, Dalton Knecht, Sacramento native Jared McCain, Alex Sarr, Ja’Kobe Walter & Cody Williams.

Per Cunningham, the Kings met with several top-10 prospects during last week’s NBA Combine in Chicago, including the likes of Donovan Clingan, Dalton Knecht, Cody Williams, Alex Sarr, Ja’Kobe Walter, and Sacramento native Jared McCain.

The Kings have De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, and Keegan Murray all locked in for the future, and they’re a well-coached team that’s on the rise.

This class of players might not feature any can’t-miss talent or generational prospects, but perhaps they’ll be able to find that X-Factor that could get them over the hump and back to the NBA Finals for the first time in decades.
