As the Los Angeles Lakers continue to look for their new head coach, many people are making suggestions about who would do the job correctly in 2024-25 and beyond.

Speaking on “Undisputed,” Paul Pierce named his old teammate as someone who could be the new head coach of the Lakers.

He said that Rajon Rondo has what it takes to lead the team and also communicate clearly, and perhaps forcefully, with players on the team.

Rondo spent 16 years in the NBA and did a whole lot during that time.

He earned four All-Star appearances, was an assist champion three times, and was also a champion twice, once with the Boston Celtics and again with the Lakers.

Since retiring a few years ago, there have been many rumors about Rondo possibly coaching, either in college or the NBA.

Pierce thinks he’d be perfect for the job for several reasons.

Firstly, the man knows basketball incredibly well and would be able to come up with offensive and defensive schemes that would do great things for the Lakers.

Secondly, he played in the league for years and earned the respect and friendship of many people, including those he would be coaching.

Rondo is also the sort of person who will speak out and keep people in line.

He is not a pushover and would drive his team hard, something a head coach should do.

According to reports, Rondo’s name is not in the mix for the Lakers but that doesn’t mean he won’t find a position somewhere else in the league soon.

Or perhaps the Lakers will listen to Pierce’s suggestion and contemplate bringing in their former player for an interview.
