Coming into the 2023 NFL season, the Detroit Lions were one of the most hyped teams in the NFL, as many believed that this would be the year that Dan Campbell’s squad would turn the corner and become a legitimate force to be reckoned with in the NFC.
Although most young and unproven teams fold under this kind of pressure, the Lions were able to live up to expectations and arguably exceeded those expectations, with star quarterback Jared Goff having one of the best years of his NFL career.
Goff became the face of the franchise moving forward after an impressive performance during the 2023 campaign, so the Lions decided to make him a very wealthy man this offseason, signing him to a lucrative contract extension.
With Goff in the fold for the foreseeable future, Detroit has a window of opportunity to win a Super Bowl title, which they came two wins away from accomplishing last season.
Marcus Spears of ESPN wants people not to underestimate the Lions heading into the 2024 campaign, via NFL on ESPN.

Although the Lions left something to be desired on the defensive side of the football last year, Detroit did address the defense during the 2024 NFL Draft by drafting arguably the most talented cornerback in this draft class, Terrion Arnold.
Along with Arnold, the Lions’ next pick was also a cornerback, with the team bringing in Ennis Rakestraw Jr. and then drafting safety Sione Vaki in the fourth round.
Needless to say, the team has made an effort to upgrade its roster defensively, and it’ll be interesting to see if that will make an impact in 2024 and get them closer to winning a title.
