The Cleveland Cavaliers fell short of their goal again this season.
Jarrett Allen’s injury was a fatal blow in the playoffs, and some felt like JB Bickerstaff’s adjustments — or lack thereof — also cost their team a fair chance to compete with the Boston Celtics in the second round.
The team will reportedly review Bickerstaff’s tenure and his continuity with the organization.
However, keeping and extending Donovan Mitchell is obviously their No. 1 priority heading into the offseason.
Fortunately for them, it seems like it’s a matter of time before that happens.
According to a report by Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Cavs are confident that Mitchell will sign a four-year max contract extension worth a whopping $209 million (via Evan Sidery).
The Cavaliers remain optimistic Donovan Mitchell will sign a four-year, $209 million extension this offseason, per @WindhorstESPN on @ESPNCleveland.

The report adds that if Mitchell stays, chances are that Klutch Sports will push for Darius Garland to be traded somewhere he’s a better fit.
The Cavs need to figure some things out.
Garland was a no-show in the closeout game, and it’s more than evident that Mitchell is their alpha player.
They also need to figure out what to do with Evan Mobley, who hasn’t taken many — if any — steps in his development but is eligible to sign a max rookie contract extension.
Mitchell is an elite playoff performer and a leader, and they might be better off moving on from some of their youngsters and giving him a different supporting cast.
