The Dallas Mavericks entered the season as a bit of a question mark.

Analysts raved about the moves they made, but there were still doubts about whether Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving could coexist with their style of play.

Also, signing Grant Williams proved to be a mistake early in the season, and it wasn’t until they made their mid-season moves that they went from a dark horse to a legitimate contender.

Fast forward to today, and they’re just three wins away from the NBA Finals.

Notably, this wasn’t much of a surprise for Draymond Green, who picked them to win the whole thing even before tip-off of Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals (via Warriors on NBC Sports):

“Honestly, the team that I love right now is Dallas,” Green told Point Game’s John Wall and C.J. Toledano before the start of the Western Conference finals.

The four-time NBA champion claimed that he ‘loved’ the Mavericks, and there’s nothing not to like, in all honesty.

Doncic struggled with a knee injury earlier in the playoffs, so that’s going to be a situation to keep an eye on.

But they have two legitimate No. 1s with him and Kyrie, and they’ve found a way to share the wealth and have never fought for shots or whatnot.

Their defense is stellar, and they have the combination of shooting and size to make some noise.

There are still concerns about their offense, as it can be stagnant and iso-heavy at times, especially when things aren’t going their way.

Also, whoever they face — even if they get past the Minnesota Timberwolves, who boast the best defense in the game — will be a worthy opponent, but you still have to like their chances.
