The entire NBA world is very interested to see who the Los Angeles Lakers pick for their next head coach.
Several candidates have emerged as frontrunners for the job, including JJ Redick.
Speaking to Pat McAfee, Shams Charania said that Redick met with the Lakers for an “extended period of time” last week.
He added that Redick “was the first person to do a face to face meeting and my sense is that he’s the frontrunner for this job.”

Charania is always tuned into the inner workings of the league so the fact that he thinks Redick is the frontrunner for the job says a lot.
If Redick does get this position, it’ll be a huge sign of faith from the Lakers front office.
They will be giving him his first head coaching job and the keys to a basketball kingdom.
Some fans are unhappy with the idea of Redick leading the team because he has never been a head coach before.
He hasn’t even been an assistant coach, although he does have a lot of basketball knowledge because of his years playing in the NBA.
Will that be enough to help the Lakers win more in the new season?
Charania said that the Lakers do not want to be a team that can only compete for the Play-In Tournament next season.
Instead, they want to be championship contenders again and that means that some big changes will have to come.
The hiring of Redick would be a massive change that could set the stage for the next chapter in Los Angeles.
The Lakers haven’t made their choice yet but it sounds like Redick is definitely leading the way.
