The Cleveland Cavaliers couldn’t avoid injuries this season and they continually popped up again and again, including during the postseason.
The season ended with both Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen on the injury report, diminishing the team’s chances of beating the Boston Celtics.
Speaking with “Run It Back,” via NBACentral, Marcus Morris opened up about Allen’s injury in the second round of the playoffs.
“If you put me in that same position, do I play? Yes,” Morris said plainly.

Allen was battling with a bruised rib for the last few games of the season and didn’t participate in the team’s series against the Celtics.
The loss of Allen really hurt the Cavaliers against an offensively-dominant Celtics team.
He could have helped out a lot, especially because Boston’s big man, Kristaps Porzingis, was out of the series too with his own injury.
Right after the season ended, there were some reports saying that people on the team felt that Allen could have done more to participate and play.
In this interview, Morris confirmed that he felt Allen could have played.
While a player is expected to perform rehab, they are given the choice of playing through an injury.
Apparently, Allen didn’t feel ready to play, which is a choice that hasn’t sat right with several other people on the team.
There have been rumors that Allen could be leaving the Cavaliers this summer and this latest statement from Morris will only make more of them.
This season didn’t end the way the Cavaliers wanted it to and they were missing Allen when they needed him most.
Could that have been avoided?
