For years, Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has been heavily criticized for his postseason performances.
And while some of that criticism has been earned because of his shortcomings, especially in big moments, Tatum has also had some very solid playoff games thus far.
He wasn’t particularly at his best during Games 1 and 2, but he still made big plays to help his team jump to a 2-0 series lead.
Then, with the Indiana Pacers fighting for their lives and playing an almost perfect game, he stepped up big time to make sure the Celtics got the job done, making history in the process.
According to Celtics beat writer Taylor Snow, Tatum just became the first player in NBA history with at least 36 points, ten rebounds, eight assists, and no turnovers in a playoff game.

Tatum has been extremely dominant on both ends of the glass during this postseason run, making up for Kristaps Porzingis’ absence.
Also, his playmaking has been significantly better, and that was perhaps the only aspect of his offensive game that still needed some improvement.
Tatum is judged differently from other players because he’s better than other players.
He also happens to play for the winningest organization in NBA history, and as great a player as he is, he has left something to be desired in big moments; it happens.
That’s the kind of burden that comes with playing for a team like the Boston Celtics, and even though it’s not entirely his fault and he should be more celebrated than he is, it just is what it is.
