Jeff Van Gundy was an accomplished NBA head coach back in his day, but it was his work in the booth that endeared him to basketball fans around the world as he formed the most iconic commentary desk in the sports world alongside Mike Breen and Mark Jackson for years.
He was unceremoniously fired by ESPN after 17 years not too long ago, and his brother and fellow coach-turned-commentator Stan Van Gundy has some harsh words for ESPN after this decision.
TMZ Sports shared some insight from Stan, and he said “I mean after 17 years of being in arguably, I don’t even know if arguably, being the best game broadcast booth in the business in basketball, and being the kind of person he is, ESPN s*** on him.”

Jeff’s brutal honesty and relatability provided a breath of fresh air compared to his peers, as he was never too shy to challenge the league itself or the refs in the middle of a broadcast.
Fans haven’t heard much from Jeff since he was fired, and his commentary is sorely missed as we get closer and closer to the NBA Finals.
As great as his contemporaries are, every time Mike Breen is on a broadcast, it’s tough not to miss his banter with Van Gundy, as Breen played the perfect man who often had to reel Van Gundy back in after going off on one of his legendary tangents.
Stan is doing a great job in his place, but we all miss hearing Jeff’s voice.
