The Los Angeles Clippers looked like the best team in the NBA for a sizable portion of this season, as all four of their future Hall-of-Famers started to click shortly after the James Harden trade and with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George finally staying healthy.
Unfortunately, it didn’t last, as the Clippers fell in the first round of the playoffs to the Dallas Mavericks following Leonard’s injury, and now the franchise reportedly has interest in another future Hall-of-Famer to add to the mix.
NBA insider Michael Scotto shared (via NBACentral) that the Clippers are a team to watch out for in the DeMar DeRozan trade market this summer, saying: “As previously reported on HoopsHype following the lottery, there’s a belief around the league that DeMar DeRozan will ultimately re-sign with the Bulls, given the team’s continued desire to compete, his role, and Chicago’s willingness to pay him.”
He added: “However, one team worth monitoring as a potential suitor for DeRozan via sign-and-trade is the Los Angeles Clippers, should the franchise fail to re-sign Paul George in free agency, HoopsHype has learned.”

The possibility of Paul George leaving in free agency is legitimate, as the Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic are two of the early teams who have been linked to him.
DeRozan would be a logical replacement, though he doesn’t do anything to make the Clippers younger, which is becoming a problem.
This postseason has shown us that the youth movement is here, as all the teams built around older foundations crashed and burned in the first round or missed the playoffs altogether.
