After a disappointing and potentially last season with the Golden State Warriors, star guard Klay Thompson heads into the NBA offseason with an uncertain future ahead, as it is unclear if the team will offer him what he wants in NBA free agency and if he’ll end up taking an offer from another team this summer.
Although Thompson is heading into an NBA offseason filled with uncertainty and a potentially drastic change in his life and basketball career in the league, the future Hall of Famer chose to honor someone who impacted his life this week.
On Monday, the news spread around the league and the world that basketball icon Bill Walton had passed away after a long battle with cancer, which impacted a lot of current and former players profoundly.
With Luke Walton, son of the two-time NBA champion, spending a lot of time with the Warriors during their championship runs as an assistant under head coach Steve Kerr, it seems as though Thompson got to know Bill Walton, which left an impression on him, as he went on a hike in his honor (via Warriors on NBCS).

Thompson was one of many who paid tribute to Walton after his passing on Monday, as it became abundantly clear that the former NBA superstar left an impact on many lives on and off the basketball court.
As for Thompson, it’ll be interesting to see what he does this summer as he contemplates what to do in NBA free agency, with a few teams expected to send offers his way.
