The NBA has been around for almost eight decades.

Needless to say, the game has seen countless eras, with multiple coaches developing their systems accordingly.

Some coaches are more foundational in the sense that they’re elite game planners, while others make their money with their in-game or in-series adjustments.

Some are player-oriented coaches, while others run a tighter ship, and obviously, they all have different personalities.

With that in mind, Kevin Garnett, Matt Barnes, Trevor Ariza, and Stephen Jackson talked about their favorite and best coaches (via All The Smoke Productions).

“My favorite was Doc Rivers.”

Jackson claimed that his best coach was Gregg Popovich, while his favorite one was Don Nelson.

Ariza claimed that his best and favorite was Phil Jackson, although he also enjoyed his time with Kevin McHale.

As for Kevin Garnett, he claimed that Flip Saunders was a great development coach, but his favorite was Doc Rivers.

Rivers has faced some harsh criticism over the years because of all the talent he’s coached and wasted in the playoffs.

Garnett talked about Rivers being just another one of the guys and the way he had his players in top-notch condition as the reasons why he chose him.

It makes sense, as they won an NBA championship together in 2008 and had the best run of both of their careers.

Whether the fans will agree, that’s a whole different story.
