Kyrie Irving hadn’t found much success before LeBron James went back to the Cleveland Cavaliers, at least in terms of team success.
As soon as James returned home, the Cavs turned into a three-headed monster with him, Kyrie, and Kevin Love, and they ruled the Eastern Conference almost at will.
Then, Irving bounced around the league with some failed stints, but even though he still didn’t find much success in the playoffs, his teams always reached the postseason.
Now, with another championship on the table and just one win away from another trip to the NBA Finals, Irving has finally lost a series-clinching game for the first time in his career.
As pointed out by ESPN BET on Twitter, Irving was 14-0 in series-clinching games before last night, and he’s now 14-1.

The Mavs couldn’t work their magic this time.
They had been down late in all three games they had won previously to Game 4, but the Minnesota Timberwolves were finally able to hold onto their lead and secure the win.
Irving had a head-scratching turnover late in the game, throwing the ball right into an opposing player’s hands when trying to hit a wide-open teammate for a three.
That wound up sealing the deal in favor of Chris Finch’s team, and the series will now head back to Minneapolis.
Whatever the case, Game 5 will most likely go down to the wire again.
