The 2024 NBA Draft is already being criticized for potentially being the worst draft class over the past few decades due to a lack of star power at the top and questionable depth throughout the first round.
That talent pool got a little bit thinner today as one prospect has decided to take his name out of the draft and return to college for another season.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that former Florida Atlantic guard Johnell Davis is withdrawing from the draft to return to campus and join Arkansas for his final college basketball season after averaging 18.2 points per game and shooting 41 percent from three-point range last season.

After four seasons at FAU, Davis blossomed into one of the most efficient high-volume scorers in college basketball this past season and will try his hand in the SEC after leading FAU to a Final Four run in 2023.
Many mock drafts had Davis outside the top-50 prospects, and he’ll now get to suit up for new Razorbacks head coach John Calipari in hopes of improving his stock ahead of next year’s draft.
Arkansas has the top-ranked transfer class in the country and the No. 6 incoming freshman class as Coach Cal has worked quickly to beef up this roster.
It’s unlikely Davis averages 18 points a game again for Arkansas, but Calipari knows how to get players to the next level and if Davis really was outside the top-50 as a prospect, it’s worth the risk to go back for one more year.
