The Boston Celtics have a formula that has rarely failed in NBA history.
No one can win on his own, but they have two legitimate All-Star and All-NBA kind of players.
Of course, the Celtics are Jayson Tatum’s team, and he’s clearly one tier above Jaylen Brown in terms of talent and skill, but that doesn’t mean Brown isn’t a great player as well.
With that in mind, former NBA player Evan Turner claimed that it was about time Brown got his flowers by winning that Eastern Conference Finals MVP award, as he often gets undercut and overlooked despite being a great player.
Talking to Andre Iguodala for his Point Forward podcast, Turner claimed that Brown could lead any team in the top four to be in a position to win an NBA championship (via NBA Central).
“If you put Jaylen Brown on any other team, maybe in the top four, your team is in a position to win a championship and probably be favored just like it is now.”

Granted, that’s not much of a hot take, as any team in the top four would already be a championship contender even without him, but his underlying point is actually true.
Brown is a very, very good player.
Like Tatum, he gets plenty of criticism for not being able to get the job done in the NBA Finals, and that’s the burden a Boston Celtics star has to deal with, especially with the plethora of talent, great teams, and opportunities they’ve had to get it done.
Even so, and while they still need to prove themselves on the biggest stage, that doesn’t mean they’re not two of the best players in the league.
