Jazz Are Expected To Make Key Veteran Available For Trade

Shortly after they traded Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, most people thought the Utah Jazz would go on and embrace a full-scale rebuild.

That wasn’t the case.

Instead, they were fairly competitive for a big stretch of the season, with Lauri Markkanen breaking out and looking like a franchise-caliber player.

Fast forward to today, and they still haven’t made the playoffs ever since, and while they do have some talented players, it seems like they would be better off just rebuilding.

With that in mind, they might look to part ways with one of their veterans.

According to a report by Evan Sidery of Forbes, the Jazz will make PG/SG Jordan Clarkson available for trade.

He adds that Clarkson is only owed $14 million per year over the next two seasons after renegotiating and extending his contract, so he could be a feasible option for multiple championship contenders needing a scoring punch off the bench.

The Jazz have plenty of young players and picks from the Mitchell and Gobert trades.

They will also reportedly make John Collins available, so they could add even more future selections to their stockpile.

Clarkson is a proven veteran and a perennial candidate for Sixth Man of the Year.

He’s one of the best scorers off the bench in the game, and he can even slide into the starting lineup every now and then to fill in for injuries.

And with that kind of contract, it wouldn’t be shocking to see multiple teams trying to make a run at him.
