The Milwaukee Bucks were dealt some bad luck toward the end of the 2023-24 NBA season as they saw Giannis Antetokounmpo suffer a calf strain that forced him to miss the remainder of the year and the playoffs.
Although the Bucks struggled throughout the regular season, Antetokounmpo had a strong individual season averaging 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in 73 games.
At his best, the star big man is one of the best players in the league and a perennial MVP candidate though Milwaukee has yet to get back to the Finals since winning in 2021.
Despite a blockbuster move to land Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers, it’s hard to see how the Bucks get back to the top of the Eastern Conference with teams like the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Philadelphia 76ers in their way.
In the meantime, the 2024 Paris Olympics are slated to start next month and Antetokounmpo will play for Greece in the tournament, via Evan Sidery of Forbes.
“Giannis Antetokounmpo has been confirmed to play for Greece in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament next month. Giannis missed the final nine games of the Bucks’ season due to a calf strain,” Sidery reported.

Antetokounmpo has represented Greece before, though this would be the biggest state of them all if he can help his country qualify for the Olympics.
There might be some hesitation from the organization to see Antetokounmpo playing basketball after suffering an injury, but it looks like he is well past his calf injury.
For now, it will be interesting to see how Antetokounmpo and Greece fare in international play next month.
