The Boston Celtics and Kyrie Irving have some history together.
Kyrie arrived there after forcing his way out of Cleveland.
He promised the fans he would re-sign with them, struggled in the playoffs, and then left in free agency.
Then, when the fans rightfully called him out for the way he snubbed them, he doubled down on it by stomping on the logo, which led several former players to take offense at his actions.
Needless to say, he’s most likely not going to be welcome back at TD Garden with open arms.
Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean anything to his former teammates.
Talking ahead of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Jayson Tatum had nothing but praise for him, talking about how special it was to be around him when he was a young player walking his first steps in the league and calling him one of the most talented players of all time (via Hoop Central).
“On the court he’s one of the most talented guys I’ve ever seen…I have a lot of great memories from having Kai as a teammate,” Tatum said.

Kyrie is still beloved and respected in that locker room, but they will still go at him and compete for as long as they’re all between the lines.
As for the fans, let’s just hope they keep it classy and don’t cross any lines.
